Marcus Grant performs at Carnegie Hall with Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Stephen Pratt. The concert featured saxophone faculty member and international artist Dr. Otis Murphy.

Marcus Grant launches the Consortium for his arrangement of the Hummel Trumpet Concerto for Trumpet Ensemble. Consortium members are Baylor University, University of Delaware, the Fredericksburg Brass Institute, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Oklahoma State University, Tromba Mundi, the United States Army Band Trumpet Ensemble, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Marcus Grant's newest composition "Efflorescence" for trumpet duo and horn quartet, commissioned by XO Brass and Denis Wick Trumpet Artist Buddy Deshler, receives its world premiere at the "Well That's A First" NoVA Edition Concert Series in Arlington, Virginia.

Following the 2015 Fredericksburg Brass Institute, Marcus Grant is commissioned by John Maurer to write a new piece for trumpet and piano, scheduled to be premiered this Winter as part of a larger soon-to-be-announced project planned by the two individuals.

Marcus Grant is appointed the Winds Arranger of Cosby High School's Marching Band (the Cosby Titan Band) in Midlothian, Virginia. He is also appointed to the Cosby Titan Band's instructional staff.

Marcus Grant joins fellow trumpet players of Jacobs School and IU's Marching Hundred to perform the national anthem live on national television at the NCAA Basketball Tournament Championship game with the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets.

Marcus Grant accepts the invitation by Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's premiere brass ensemble, The Brass Roots, to officially become their resident composer and arranger.

Marcus progresses to the semi-final round of the 2015 National Trumpet Competition (NTC) Graduate Solo Division where he will be performing the NTC premiere of his original composition "Variations on a Theme from Nettleton" for solo trumpet and piano, to take place March 19th-21st at the Messiah College.

Marcus Grant presents his Farewell Recital at First Baptist Church of South Richmond, where - among performing other standards - he premiered his piece "Hymn For Brotherhood" for Trumpet, Horn, and Piano as well as his arrangements of Eric Morales' Passion Dance, Beethoven's Duo for 2 Flutes, and Krogstad's edition of O Sacred Head Now Wounded. In addition, Kevin Maloney (Staff Sergeant, US Army Band) premiered Grant's original composition, "Variations on a Theme From Nettleton."

Marcus Grant establishes a partnership with The Brass Roots - a professional brass choir based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - as a contributing composer and arranger. The Brass Roots record Grant's brass choir arrangement of the "Star Spangled Banner."

Marcus Grant attends the 2nd Annual Fredericksburg Brass Institute in Fredericksburg, VA where he performs in the institute's premier quintet: the "Fellowship Brass Quintet". In addition, his trumpet ensemble arrangements "Amazing Grace" and "Salvation is Created" are performed by the student trumpet ensemble.

Virginia Commonwealth University's leading Trumpet Ensemble premieres Marcus Grant's arrangement of "Beethoven's 5th Symphony in C Minor, Mvt. I" for 8 trumpets and performs Grant's "Suite for Six Trumpets" at the International Trumpet Guild Conference.

Marcus Grant is appointed the Winds Arranger of the Thomas Dale High School Marching Knights in Chester, Virginia. Grant continues to hold the position of brass instructor.

 

 

April 2013

Marcus Grant performs his Junior Recital at the James W. Black Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. Grant's brand new composition "Imperial Intrada and Fanfare" for Solo Trumpet and Trumpet Choir was premiered as well as Grant's arrangement of the Hummel Trumpet Concerto, Mvt. I for 8 Trumpets as Mvts. II and III remain in progress. Grant also performed the East-Coast premiere of Stephan Garber's arrangement of Legends for Solo Trumpet and String Sextet. Garber is a consultant  in Grant's international marching arts organization "Enlightened Productions."

Virginia Commonwealth University's outstanding brass faculty - Dr. Rex Richardson (Trumpet), Dr. Patrick Smith (French Horn), and Dr. Ross Walter (Low Brass) - joins students of the brass department at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts to premiere Grant's arrangement of the National Anthem for Brass Choir as a tribute to 9/11, conducted by the composer.

A number of Marcus Grant's trumpet ensemble compositions are read through at the International Trumpet Seminar at Grand Valley State University by a student trumpet ensemble, under the direction of Kevin Gebo of the United States Army Band, the "Pershing's Own". Grant's arrangement of Salvation is Created was performed at the final concert.

Awarded the 3rd Annual Stephenson Scholarship by James M. Stephenson - http://stephensonmusic.com/ - Grant spends a week at the International Trumpet Seminar hosted by Grand Valley State University in Michigan where his composition Suite For Six Trumpets was performed and where he met international composers such as Erik Morales as well as professional and international trumpet players such as Vincent DiMartino, Adam Rapa, Tom Hooten, Bill Lucas, Kevin Gebo, and many others.

Black Recital Hall in Richmond, VA. The second trumpet ensemble premieres Grant's trumpet ensemble arrangement of Salvation is Created, also for 6 trumpets.

Marcus Grant's first trumpet ensemble piece - Suite for Six Trumpets - is premiered during Brad Ford's Junior Recital at the James W. Black Music Center's Recital Hall in Richmond, VA.
